How do you distinguish between a life insurance salesman and someone who makes life insurance sales? Some might say that this is just stating the same thing in a different way. Some might argue that this is just a euphemism. However, language and how we say things is extremely important. There is so much symbolism behind the words we choose to use, when we speak to each other.
The way you distinguish between the two is by taking someone like a student, who has no dependents and having them try to purchase life insurance. A salesman will sell the product every time. If a student tried to purchase online, trust me, they'd sell. In fact, most financial planners out there need to satisfy their bottom line, right?
Now, the difference is needs. Do you need life insurance? Why? What situation are you trying to prevent?
Likewise, a person who is 70 years old and has grown children and no mortgage typically has no need for life insurance. Before you purchase, you may want to discuss your needs to make sure you are not over paying. And before you purchase, make sure you are not discussing with a life insurance salesman. Since someone who listens to others' needs will make more sales anyway, you want to make sure that you are sitting across from a person that simply makes a lot of life insurance sales.
